David Lakari, President
David Lakari leads Renewal Housing LLC and is sole member of David Lakari & Associates, LLC, was Executive Director of the Maine State Housing Authority from 1994-1999. As Executive Director, David was responsible for the allocation of state and federal housing programs and funds within the state. David also served as a board member of the National Council of State Housing Agencies from 1995-1999 and was honored with its Leadership Award in 1999. Prior to entering the public sector, David was a developer, owner, and manager of real estate for over 20 years. He has specialized in affordable housing preservation full-time since 1999. David holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Maine.
Todd Alexander, Vice President
Todd has worked in the affordable housing industry since 2003, during which time he developed more than 2,000 units of affordable rental housing representing more than $215MM in equity and debt financing. Todd has extensive experience acquiring and renovating affordable multifamily properties utilizing tax-exempt bonds, federal and state Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC), federal and state Historic Rehabilitation Credits, and other forms of public financing. He has also participated in the management of a proprietary fund to acquire general partnership interests in existing LIHTC properties that successfully acquired 17 properties and more than 2,000 units.
For the past two years, Todd served as the Managing Member of Year15, LLC, where he provided real estate development consulting and loan origination services to developers and financial firms within the affordable housing industry. Prior to Year15, Todd spent seven years at The Eagle Point Companies, a national affordable housing developer based in Portland, Maine, where he led the firm’s acquisition and development activities. He is a former Board President for Community Housing of Maine and the Downtown Portland Corporation. Todd holds a Master’s degree in Urban & Regional Planning from Cornell University and a Bachelor’s degree in Russian Studies from Colby College.
Rich Galicz, Development Officer
Richard Galicz has played a key role in the rehabilitation and development of eight tax credit properties in the Renewal Housing portfolio, housing over 1200 residents. Rich brings 25 years of experience in affordable housing management to Renewal's award winning Oak Hill Village, a 182 unit garden-style tax credit development serving low income families in Willoughby, Ohio. Rich's management expertise provides valuable insight during capital needs assessments, value engineering, budget development, and scope of work formulation. Rich also serves as a liaison for housing agencies, local and state authorities, and project engineers and architects.
Rich is not only a property manager, but is committed to developing programmatic partnerships in Ohio on behalf of Renewal Housing. Previous success in this area includes work with the Somali Community Association of Ohio, the Fair Housing Resource Center for Lake County, Job and Family Services of Cleveland, and the YMCA. Rich's commitment to the well being of his residents has led to extraordinary rates of retention and tenant satisfaction.
